News Ayckbourn's Communicating Doors Revival To Star Rachel Tucker, Imogen Stubbs Casting has been announced for the previously announced new production of Alan Aycbkourn's Communicating Doors, at London's Menier Chocolate Factory beginning performances May 7 prior to an official opening May 13, for a run through June 27.

Rachel Tucker, Imogen Stubbs, David Bamber, Lucy Briggs-Owen and Matthew Cottle will star, with further casting still to be announced.

Having originally premiered at Scarborough's Stephen Joseph Theatre in 1994, it was first seen in London at the West End's Gielgud Theatre the following year. This new production will be directed by Lindsay Posner.

In the play, a hired dominatrix flees for her life through a hotel communicating door only to find herself 20 years in the past. The play won Ayckbourn the Writers' Guild of Great Britain Best West End Play Award and the prestigious Molière Award in France. It was also nominated for an Olivier Award for Best Comedy.

Tucker, who recently returned from making her Broadway debut in The Last Ship, will play Poopay. Other theatre credits include Farragut North (Southwark Playhouse), Wicked (Apollo Victoria) and We Will Rock You (Dominion Theatre).

Stubbs, who plays Ruella, has recently appeared onstage in Elephants (Hampstead Theatre) and Little Revolution (Almeida Theatre). West End credits include Strangers of a Train at the Gielgud, and she has appeared at the National in Betrayal. Bamber, who plays Julian, was last seen at the Menier in Travels with My Aunt. He is currently appearing on the West End stage in Harvey at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket. Other West End credits include Betty Blue Eyes (Novello Theatre) and Absurd Person Singular (Garrick Theatre), as well as extensive credits at the National Theatre.

Briggs-Owen, who plays Jessica, originated the role of Viola in the stage version of Shakespeare in Love, has also appeared in Fortune's Fool (Old Vic) and Boris Godunov and The Orphan of Zhao (both RSC). 


Cottle, who plays Harold, was most recently seen onstage in Ayckbourn's A Small Family Business at the National Theatre. Other Ayckbourn credits include A Chorus of Disapproval at the West End's Pinter Theatre.
