Matt Loehr and Katie Thompson swung by the Playbill studio to perform a song from R.R.R.E.D., a new musical about a secret redheaded revolutionary organization that fights back against the extinction of redheads (in the year 2100.)
R.R.R.E.D. features music and lyrics by Thompson and a book by Adam Jackman, Thompson, and Patrick Livingston. The musical is currently playing in repertory with Neurosis at the DR2 Theatre Off-Broadway.
Andy Sandberg directs and Shea Sullivan choreographs. Performances began July 28 ahead of an August 19 opening.
Directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell, Pretty Woman stars Samantha Barks as Vivian alongside Andy Karl as Edward. Based on the popular film, the new musical will officially on Broadway August 16.
Kevin Zak and Brennan Caldwell swung by the Playbill studio to perform a number from the musical comedy, Neurosis, now playing at the DR2 Theatre Off-Broadway. The new musical is about finding happiness and falling in love while dealing with that little voice inside your head.
"We couldn't be more excited for Neurosis to have its Off-Broadway premiere,” Neurosis writers Allan Rice, Ben Green and Greg Edwards told Playbill. “We just hope someone in New York will be able to relate to our story of anxiety and self-doubt.”
This fall, Golden Globe, Tony, and Olivier Award winner Janet McTeer will return to Broadway in the world premiere of Bernhardt/Hamlet, a new comedy-drama by Pulitzer finalist Theresa Rebeck. The play will bring to life the legendary Sarah Bernhardt, a trailblazing French actor who made history in more ways than one.
In the video above, we chat to the creative team and cast ahead of the first preview, August 31.
Bernhardt/Hamlet, directed by Moritz von Stuelpnagel, will play a limited engagement at the American Airlines Theatre in a production from Roundabout Theatre Company. The principal cast will also include Dylan Baker as Constant Coquelin and Jason Butler Harneras Edmond Rostand.
See the cast in rehearsal and on set, and watch stars Cozi Zuehlsdorff and Heidi Blickenstaff, along with creators Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey chat about the latest version of Freaky Friday. The film will premiere August 10 on Disney Channel.
