On September 27, Laura Benanti began a string of shows at Café Carlyle. Playbill was on hand as she, Todd Almond (piano) and Brian Ellingson (bass) soundchecked an assortment of tunes from her latest offering Tales From Soprano Isle. The set features Broadway favorites from She Loves Me and The Sound of Music as well as pop songs by artists like Tori Amos, Joni Mitchell and Harry Chapin, all performed with a soprano flair.
