Wardrobe, Wig and Costume Internship

PDNYC–New York, NY

Job Description

The award-winning immersive theatrical production Sleep No More has opportunities for part-time wardrobe and costume shop interns who want to learn from some of the best costuming and wardrobe professionals in the industry.

Sleep No More is a site specific immersive theatre production in Chelsea, New York City, created by the internationally acclaimed British theatre company Punchdrunk. It is based on Shakespeare’s tragedy Macbeth and is set in 1930s Scotland. Since 2000, Punchdrunk has pioneered a game changing form of immersive theatre in which roaming audiences experience epic storytelling inside sensory theatrical worlds. Blending classic texts, physical performance, award-winning design installation and unexpected sites, the company's infectious format rejects the passive obedience usually expected of audiences. Lines between space, performer and spectator are constantly shifting. Audiences are invited to rediscover the childlike excitement and anticipation of exploring the unknown and experience a real sense of adventure. Free to encounter the installed environment in an individual imaginative journey, the choice of what to watch and where to go is theirs alone.

Interns receive training from expert wardrobe and costume shop professionals. Internships with Sleep No More last approximately 12 weeks. Priority will be given to currently enrolled students.

This is an unpaid internship, although qualified graduates of our internship program may be considered for employment.  To apply for an internship, please submit cover letter explaining how this internship opportunity may fit your career goals, a resume with a minimum of two references, and dates of availability.
