Backstage Master

The backstage master will be trained on how to set up and run the experience technically. They will be provided with a detailed list of instructions on how to run the experience and how to solve small technical problems that may arise. Upon the completion of the technical training, they will be required to run the experience from day to day, and manage the motion capture. They must tackle any unforeseen technical issues that arise to the best of their ability. They will set up the VR experience and run is during the operating week and manage the motion capture.

Should something go wrong that is beyond the training, we aim to have an ‘on call’ expert in each location that the tour visits, who could be available at short notice to help troubleshoot.

The most important quality is to be able to multitask, and remain focused in a fast paced sometimes stressful environment, and keep calm in order to problem-solve effectively.

Some small experience with Unity is a plus but not essential.

On Call Technical Expert

They need to have a good knowledge of Unity and Motion capture/ opti-tracking technology. They are not required to attend the regular operating week, but should be available in case of emergency, e.g. a technical failure that the backstage master cannot fix.

Set Supervisor

The set supervisor will also be trained in how to set up, maintain and uninstall the experience installation. Also referred to as the Ninja: they will need to know the ins and outs of the experience’s choreography, for example when to raise the curtains, when to move props during the performance, and monitor the user safety on set. They are the first to arrive, and last to leave (open and close the experience). They ensure all aspects of the set are functioning properly.

They should be experienced in set builds, particularly confident in handling a truss. Good memory, able to multi-task and good under stress.

Set Assistant

The set assistant is on hand to assist the set supervisor, they should also have a good memory in order to learn the experience choreography and be able to multi-task.

Production Assistant

Organised and punctual, they are responsible for managing the experience and any additional elements such as the speak-easy are running as intended. Any issues that arise relating to the location or THRV team are their responsibility also. They must try to ensure the day to day shows are running on time and everyone involved has what they need to perform/ work.

Hostesses

There are two hosts available for the experience at any given time. One host will welcome in and out users and handle the waiting list (if applicable), another host will be in charge of backpack maintenance. Both hosts will work together to fit (and remove) the backpacks & headsets when required during the show, and report any issues to set supervisor. Hosts are the experience’s first point of contact with the public, so we are looking for friendly, personable staff. Experience with VR equipment would be ideal as they need to be sure the backpacks are all in top condition and fully charged. If there is a problem during the experience and a user wishes to leave, the hosts are also responsible for helping them to do so in a safe manner.
