DESCRIPTION

59E59 Theaters seeks a qualified candidate for the role of Production Manager.

 

The Elysabeth Kleinhans Theatrical Foundation is a not-for-profit operating foundation that owns and operates 59E59 Theaters, a theater complex containing a 196-seat theater, a 98-seat theater and 50-70 seat flexible theater. 59E59 actively curates use of the theaters by visiting theater companies, occupying each of the three spaces for 50 weeks per year, for about 34 productions per year.

 

 

The Production Manager is the production liaison for all companies that use the three theaters, and ensures the ongoing professional operation of the facility.

 

JOB DUTIES

 

Facilitate companies’ use of spaces - coordinate and organize the load ins and strikes of all productions. Ensure theater companies have all necessary permits, complying with fire, ADA, egress codes and safety concerns. Supply all necessary information as they pertain to each space. Coordinate delivery and pickup schedules. Occasional coordination of lighting, audio or scenery bid and install process.

 

Upkeep of spaces, including equipment - Keep track of and maintain lighting, sound and other inventories for each theater and their technical systems. Troubleshooting of house equipment as needed.

 

Supervisor House Technicians – one FT and one PT - actively manage and schedule staff, keeping staff aware of new developments, needs of each show.

 

Crew Chief – overhires needed for each production are often hired by 59E59. The production manager will hire, schedule and supervise overhires as required.

 

Storage on site and off - maintain orderly storage of all production equipment both on premises and at an off-site storage facility.

 

Working with FOH - communicate with FOH staff about needs of each production that affect that department and the audience.

 

Upkeep of physical plant - work with the facility department to make sure the theater interiors, backstage spaces, and public areas are all kept in excellent condition.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

- Strong organizational skills - keeping records, planning in advance, using time efficiently.

- Strong leadership skills. Ability to manage crews, sometimes up to 3 crews at one time

- Strong knowledge of the EOS lighting systems, dimmer racks, basic lighting console questions.

- Working knowledge of Qlab, live audio systems, clear com systems, video, basic rigging and basic carpentry.

- Knowledge of New York City public assembly rules

- will be required to obtain FDNY certifications for building fire safety systems

 

COMPENSATION

 

The salary for the position is $70,500.
