GEORGE STREET PLAYHOUSE, New Brunswick, NJ (45 minutes from NYC), seeks 2M/2F actors, all ethnicities, for its Non-Equity regional Touring Company. Contract from August 27, 2018 – April 6, 2019, with possible 2 week extension. Pays $400 per week.
Work is demanding and requires great dedication. Must have interest and passion for theatre for young audiences. Must be a strong actor and singer with a solid background in dance. Actors must play teen to early twenties, varying roles. BA or BFA in Theatre Arts / Acting strongly suggested. EMC points for understudying main stage (LORT D) if appropriate. Must be willing to relocate to Central New Jersey.
New York: Tuesday, June 26 from 10-4 and Wednesday, June 27 from 10-4

A play about bullying and language acquisition

Nick – M. The “new kid.” Smart, good sense of humor, but struggling to fit into his new community.
Mog – M. Brash and goofy, with a wild temper.
Mencha – F. Mog’s best friend. Sweet, caring, and open-minded.
Mom – F. Nick’s mom. Gentle, understanding, and compassionate.
Perform in GSP’s Touring Theatre productions, which travel to area schools, colleges, and community groups within the tri-state area.
The company performs 2 shows in repertory.
Conduct post-play discussions after each performance.
Responsible for daily operation of touring productions: driving tour van, loading and unloading van, proper storage of all sets, costumes and props, and set-up and strike for all rehearsals and performances.
Must be able to lift 40lbs for 100 ft.
Touring Theatre actors may participate, if the role is appropriate, in the Equity Membership Candidate Program in accordance with the current Equity rules. Participants accumulate one week of credit for each week of understudying, performing, or rehearsing Main Stage productions. Participation in the EMC Program DOES NOT GUARANTEE Equity Membership. Touring actors are invited to understudy at the discretion of the GSP artistic staff. Not all touring actors understudy all productions.
Terms of contract: Company is in residence August 27, 2018 – April 6, 2019, with possible 2 week extension.
Rehearsals: Full-time, 6 days per week rehearsal/ 5 days per week performing. Actors may not hold second jobs during the rehearsal period.
Housing is not provided. Actors must reside in Central New Jersey for the term of employment. Local New Jersey residents may commute if they have reliable and independent transportation.
