Marketing and Events Coordinator - Intern


We are looking for an individual that can promote the festival on a variety of social platforms, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, via live feeds and standard posts linking to show ticketing links, performance times, special events, etc.  You will learn how to create promotional posts and ads using the festival voice to draw maximum engagement from our audience, while enjoying many theatre shows as part of the festival.   You will be reporting directly to the marketing director to assist in the creation and operation of participant meet-ups, parties, venue tours and group workshops.  This will include branding, promotion and logistics.   You will also be responsible for sourcing, managing and scheduling the ushers for every production to ensure an excellent audience experience as well as adhering to the venue’s strict security guidelines.   Full training will be provided and you will be reporting directly to the Marketing Director for the festival.


You will be expected to complete an average of 130 hours total over the course of the internship which includes preparation for and execution of the Broadway Bound Theatre Festival 2018 ( August 4 - 26, 2018).   Hours will be structured as follows:  
  • Approximately 5 hours total for online meetings / training with Marketing Director before and during the festival
  • Approximately 10 hours total sourcing, scheduling and managing ushers for #BBTFNY18
  • Approximately 5 hours for venue training on location at 14th St Y
  • Average 5 hours per day* for 22 days (duration of the 2018 festival) = 110 hours
  *Please note that 6 of these festival days will require 10 hours, to compensate for 6 break days off.  Hours can be negotiated with the Marketing Director.

Broadway Bound Theatre Festival is the only playwright-centric, curated theatre festival in NYC dedicated to creating a new brand of self-producing
playwright ready and relevant to the modern theatre scene. This internship is ideal for those majoring in Marketing, Social Media, Communications, Advertising, Sales, Events Management, Business, Arts Management, and related disciplines.   Interns must have a good understanding and proficiency in using popular social media sites, excellent computer literacy, an interest in theatre, good time management and excellent communication skills - both written and verbal.      

Role & Responsibilities   The day-to-day tasks you will be expected to complete include the following:  
  • Sourcing, scheduling, training and managing volunteer ushers for each performance
  • Working with the Marketing Director to effectively create, publicize and execute participant events
  • Promote performances to increase ticket sales by covering snapshots of shows on social media via Facebook Live, Instagram Live and more
  • Taking photos of performances suitable for use across social media, e-marketing, and festival website
  • Interviewing playwrights, cast members and more via video, Facebook Live, Instagram Live, Snapchat Stories, and other platforms; before and/or after each show
  • Ensuring maximum audience satisfaction by monitoring ushers, encouraging customers to fill out surveys when possible, and working with the Marketing Director to suggest new ways to improve audience engagement
