Seeking Educational Director:

Timber Lake Playhouse, Illinois state's oldest summer stock company, is seeking an Educational Director for their 2018 summer season. This is currently a part time position that TLP is looking to grow into a full time position. See job description below:



Purpose
:  The Education Director oversees Timber Lake Playhouse’s Education and Outreach Program.  Specifically, this position will develop, coordinate and teach TLP’s workshops and classes, oversee the Apprentice/Internship Program, and the All Area Teen Production.

 

Primary Responsibilities

 

  1. Planning 
  • Management of the Education department
    • Assess Education department programs to make them more efficient, scalable, and sustainable. 
    • Assess Education programs to insure that they are essential to TLP’s identity and fulfill its mission. 
    • Implement curriculum and operating processes in response to program evaluations and outcomes. 
    • Manage Project timelines.
    • Manage Education calendar insuring accuracy and compliance with corporate calendar.  
    • Prepare quarterly and annual report/summary for Education programs including data and demographics.
    • Analyze gaps in the Education Program, make recommendations to the Administration and implement accepted recommendations.

 

  1. Direct Daily Operations
  • Analysis of curriculum, materials, etc.
  • Annual analysis of equipment needs
  • Insure that TLP continues to deliver quality educational product 
  • Insure that facilities meet the quality of our product
  • Collaborate with Administration to insure Education materials are in compliance with corporate brand and represent the department’s goals and image. 
  • Facilitate weekly dialogue with Marketing, Development, and Production to insure that all parties have mutual understanding of Education team activities. 

 

Specific Responsibilities

  1. Teen Workshop and Children’s Camp
    • Develop program and curriculum for the daily camps.
    • Provide the educational component for the camps
    • Work with Admin Assistant to track participant attendance
  1. Administer the High School Apprentice Program
    • Keep all records for the program
    • Meet weekly with apprentices and supervisors
    • Approve weekly and total hour records
    • Schedule apprentices on a weekly basis
    • Manage the evaluation process 
  1. Manage the All Area Teen Production (NOTE: The Education Director often assumes the role of Director of this production)
    • Coordinate production aspects of the production
    • Manage the scheduling process
    • Act as liaison to TLP management
  1. Administer the Resident Company Internship Program
    • Keep all records for the program
    • Meet weekly with interns and supervisors
    • Assure interns are receiving quality mentoring
    • Manage the evaluation process 

 

Qualifications

  1. College degree (or presently in a professional program) in related field preferred.
  2. Professional experience and presently working as a professional
