MCC Theater, the award-winning Off-Broadway theater that has produced The Legend of Georgia McBride, Hand to God, The Nether, Punk Rock, reasons to be pretty and Fat Pig, among others, seeks an Artistic Fellow for May 2017-December 2017.
MCC believes that empowering individuals with a diversity of perspectives informed by their race, ethnicity, gender, class, physical ability and sexual orientation helps us to fulfill our mission to create bold, new work that challenges ideas about contemporary issues and provokes conversation. Throughout our history, we have been dedicated to programs that increase participation from individuals who are currently underrepresented in the theater community at large. In recent years, we have come to recognize the urgent need to commit ourselves to championing equity and inclusion in our artistic programming.
With this commitment in mind, MCC seeks a bright, energetic, organized and personable young professional from a community currently underrepresented in the field of arts administration. This is a full-time, salaried, eight month fellowship ideal for someone interested in arts administration, with a focus on artistic producing, artistic programming, and new play development.
The Fellow will be responsible for providing administrative and artistic support to the Artistic department, while learning about how an Artistic department functions within the context of a non-profit theater. Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to): reading and tracking play submissions, scouting readings and productions on behalf of the department, scheduling meetings for the Artistic team, and providing support to our Playlabs reading series and Youth Company programs as needed.
