Casting is now complete for the upcoming Off-Broadway production of Fiddler on the Roof at Stage 42. As previously announced, Steven Skybell and Jackie Hoffman will star as Tevye and Yente, respectively, reprising their performances from the current National Yiddish Theatre of Folksbiene run. Among those joining them will be Jennifer Babiak, also returning to play Golde.
The current staging at the Museum of Jewish Heritage closes December 30. The Stage 42 production begins performances February 11, 2019, prior to a February 21 opening.
Also moving uptown from the current cast is Joanne Borts as Sheyndl, Lisa Fishman as Bobe Tsatyl, Kirk Geritano as Avrom, Cameron Johnson as Fyedka, Ben Liebert as Motl Kamzoyl, Stephanie Lynne Mason as Hodl, Rosie Jo Neddy as Khave, Raquel Nobile as Shprintze, Nick Raynor as Yosl, Bruce Sabath as Leyzer- Volf, Drew Seigla as Perchik, Adam B. Shapiro as Der Rov, Jodi Snyder as Frume-Sore, James Monroe Števko as Mendl, Lauren Jeanne Thomas as Der Fiddler, Bobby Underwood as Der Gradavoy, and Rachel Zatcoff as Tsaytl, as well as Michael Einav, Abby Goldfarb, John Giesige, Moshe Lobel, and Jonathan Quigley.
Joining the cast are Samantha Hahn as Beylke, Evan Mayer as Sasha, Mikhl Yashinsky as Nokhum/Mordkhe, and ensemble memer Kayleen Seidl, who all bowed with the production when it first opened in the summer of 2018 and now return to the production.
Directed by Joel Grey, the mounting is a Yiddish-language production of the classic musical written by Joseph Stein, Jerry Bock, and Sheldon Harnick based on a translation by Shraga Friedman.
The production, from producers Hal Luftig and Jana Robbins in association with Sandy Block, features musical staging and new choreography by Staś Kmieć, musical direction by Zalmen Mlotek, set design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Ann Hould-Ward, sound design by Dan Moses Schreier, lighting design by Peter Kaczorowski, wig and hair design by Tom Watson, and props by Addison Heeren. Casting is by Jamibeth Margolis, CSA.
