The National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene's Yiddish-language production of Fiddler on the Roof has extended for a fourth time. The musical will now play through December 30 due to the high demand for tickets.

“More than 40,000 people have already laughed and cried with the Yiddish Fiddler on the Roof, proof-positive that it resonates with audiences in a profound way,” says NYTF Chief Executive Officer and two-time Tony Award-nominated producer Christopher Massimine. “We are excited to be offering 32 more chances to connect with this timeless story.”

As previously announced, the November 10 performance marks the production’s 104th show and commemorates NYTF’s 104 seasons. The special performance will be followed by dessert and a champagne toast for ticketholders.

The production first opened July 15 in the Edmond J. Safra Theatre at the Museum of Jewish Heritage. It was set for a limited run through August 26, but due to popular demand and a sold-out run extended to September 2, again to October 25, and then to November 18.

Directed by Joel Grey, the staging stars Steven Skybell as Tevye, Emmy nominee and Broadway veteran Jackie Hoffman as Yente, and Jennifer Babiak as Golde.

The cast also features Cameron Johnson as Fyedka, Ben Liebert as Motel Kamzoil, Stephanie Lynne Mason as Hodel, Rosie Jo Neddy as Chava, Maya Jacobson as Bielke, Raquel Nobile as Shprintze, Bruce Sabath as Lazar-Wolf, Drew Seigla as Perchik, and Rachel Zatcoff as Tzeitel.

Rounding out the cast are Joanne Borts, Doug Chitel, Michael Einav, Lydia Gladstone, Jessica Rose Futran, Kirk Geritano, John Giesige, Josh Kohane, Abby Goldfarb, Moshe Lobel, Jonathan Quigley, Nick Raynor, Adam B. Shapiro, Jodi Snyder, James Monroe Števko, Lauren Jeanne Thomas, and Bobby Underwood.

Performed in Yiddish—as are all of the productions from NYTF—this Fiddler features a translation by Shraga Friedman, first used in a performance in Israel in 1965. The production is accompanied by supertitles in English and Russian.

With musical staging and choreography by Staś Kmieć, the production features scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Ann Hould-Ward, lighting design by Peter Kaczorowski, sound design by Dan Moses Schrier, hair and wig design by Tom Watson, musical direction by NYTF artistic director Zalmen Mlotek, and casting by Jamibeth Margolis.

Fiddler on the Roof was written by Joseph Stein with music by Jerry Bock and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick. Harnick and producer/director Harold Prince consulted on the current NYTF production.
