WP Theater, under the leadership of Artistic Director Lisa McNulty, will kick off its 2019–2020 season this fall with the world premiere of Our Dead Dead Drug Lord by Alexis Scheer, followed up by the co-world premiere of Donnetta Lavinia Grays' Where We Stand next spring. This fall, WP teams up with Second Stage for world premiere of Our Dead Dead Drug Lord. In the new play, a gang of teenage girls gathers in an abandoned treehouse to summon the ghost of Pablo Escobar. Are they messing with the actual spirit of the infamous cartel kingpin? Or are they really just messing with each other? Performances will begin September 11 ahead of a September 24 opening in the WP Theater (McGinn/Cazale Theater), with a director and casting to be announced.

In March 2020, WP and Baltimore Center Stage will co-present Grays' Where We Stand, directed by Tamilla Woodard. Join in community as one passionate storyteller spins a supernatural tale of loneliness seduced by kindness and asks us: “What do we owe each other?” Performances will run Off-Broadway February 1–March 1 ahead of the show's Baltimore engagement March 19–April 12.

March 26–April 25 will mark WP’s Third Biennial Pipeline Festival. The festival artists, WP's current Lab residents, are playwrights Eboni Booth, Vanessa Garcia, Christina Quintana (CQ), Charly Evon Simpson, and Bryna Turner; directors Victoria Collado, Sarah Hughes, Candis C. Jones, Rebecca Martínez, and Arpita Mukherjee; and producers Ilana Becker, Marie Cisco, Lucy Jackson, Stephanie Rolland, and Alyssa Simmons. Play details will be announced at a later date.

For the third year in a row, WP will partner with New York-based company Colt Coeur for their annual Parity Plays Festival, a series of free new play readings by female and trans playwrights and directors. Details to be announced at a later date.
