The world premiere of This Flat Earth at Playwrights Horizons has found its two 13-year-old stars: Ella Kennedy Davis, who is making her Off-Broadway debut, and Ian Saint-Germain, who was previously seen in Tamburlaine at TFANA. In the new play by Amy and the Orphans playwright Lindsey Ferrentino, two middle school students grapple with having witnessed the unthinkable.

This Flat Earth is directed by Tony winner Rebecca Taichman. Performances will begin March 16 ahead of an April 9 opening.

Completing the cast are Cassie Beck (The Whale, The Humans), Ella Kennedy Davis (Matilda, Mary Poppins), Theatre World Award winner Lynda Gravatt (Miss Witherspoon, Skeleton Crew), and Lucas Papaelias (Essential Self-Defense, Once).

In This Flat Earth, a bewildered seaside town community is thrust into the spotlight following the unthinkable. In the wake of the chaos, two 13-year-olds attempt to make sense of the events, their lives, and the future.

The production will feature scenic design by Tony Award winner Dane Laffrey, costume design by Tony Award winner Paloma Young, lighting design by two-time Tony Award and three-time Drama Desk Award winner Christopher Akerlind and sound design by Mikhail Fiksel. Production stage manager is Cole P. Bonenberger.

Ferrentino’s plays include Ugly Lies the Bone and Amy and the Orphans, which is now in previews at Roundabout Theatre Company. Her other works are Kokomo, Moonlight on the Bayou, Magic Man, and Paradise Bar and Grill.
