Playwrights Horizons celebrates the official opening of Lindsey Ferrentino's new play This Flat Earth, about a seaside town community thrust into the spotlight following a school shooting. The world premiere is directed by Rebecca Taichman and scheduled to play through April 29.

In This Flat Earth, a 13-year-old girl attempts to make sense of having witnessed the unthinkable. Leading the cast is Ella Kennedy Davis (Matilda, Mary Poppins), who is making her Off-Broadway debut. She is joined by Ian Saint-Germain (Tamburlaine), Cassie Beck (The Whale, The Humans), Theatre World Award winner Lynda Gravatt (Miss Witherspoon, Skeleton Crew), and Lucas Papaelias (Essential Self-Defense, Once).
Performances began March 16. The production features scenic design by Tony Award winner Dane Laffrey, costume design by Tony Award winner Paloma Young, lighting design by two-time Tony Award and three-time Drama Desk Award winner Christopher Akerlind and sound design by Mikhail Fiksel. Production stage manager is Cole P. Bonenberger.
Ferrentino’s plays include Ugly Lies the Bone and Amy and the Orphans, which is now playing at Roundabout Theatre Company. Her other works are Kokomo, Moonlight on the Bayou, Magic Man, and Paradise Bar and Grill.
