Whoopi Goldberg, the actor and talk show host who has made five Broadway appearances, will return to the New York City stage for a single performance, 7 PM December 6, making her ringmaster debut for the Big Apple Circus during its engagement under the big top in Damrosch Park at Lincoln Center.

Goldberg, currently a moderator on the TV talk show The View, joins the show’s 40th Anniversary cast of performers, including ten-time world record-breaking high wire artist Nik Wallenda, comedian Grandma the Clown, and an array of acrobatic acts.

Goldberg is one of the few entertainers who have won an Oscar, an Emmy Award, a Grammy Award, and a Tony Award. She won her Tony not as a performer, but as a producer of the musical Thoroughly Modern Millie. Her most recent Broadway appearance came in 2008 when she replaced in the role of goddess Aphrodite in the musical Xanadu. She won her Oscar in 1991 for Ghost.

Goldberg’s upcoming performance is part of the Big Apple Circus’ annual holiday appearance at Lincoln Center, which is scheduled to continue through January 7 with Ty McFarland as its regular ringmaster.

Tickets for the engagement, which cost $37.50 to $169, are now on-sale at BigAppleCircus.com.
