The Verdict What Do Critics Think of Michael Mayer’s Film Version of The Seagull? Annette Bening, Saoirse Ronan, Elisabeth Moss, and more star in the movie, out in theatres May 11.

Film critics have begun filing their reviews for the latest film adaptation of Anton Chekhov's The Seagull. The new movie is helmed by Tony-winning director Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening) and features a screenplay by Tony-winning The Humans playwright Stephen Karam based on Chekhov's celebrated play.

The Seagull will be released by Sony Pictures Classics May 11.

The ensemble cast features Oscar nominees Annette Bening and Saoirse Ronan as Arkadina and aspiring actor Nina, respectively; Tony nominees Elisabeth Moss and Mare Winningham as Masha and Polina, respectively; Tony winner Brian Dennehy as Sorin; and Corey Stoll as Trigorin.
