Viola Davis stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! January 29 to promote her latest season of How to Get Away With Murder. The two-time Tony Award winner and Oscar winner also has an Emmy Award for the Shondaland series. With all of these awards, Kimmel wanted to know if she has to audition anymore.

Though the last movie Davis auditioned for was The Help, she did recall the time she auditioned for a play.

“I remember I had an audition once—I think it was for Henry IV, and I said, ‘I’m gonna get this role. I’m just going to be fantastic,’” she recalled. “So I had a big crying scene, and I kissed the casting director with my snotty nose in the middle of the audition. And when I say I kissed him, I mean I kissed him. With that nose dripping. And it was so enjoyable that I kissed him again and it made no sense in the scene.

“No, I did not get the part.”

But Davis has wowed onstage, nevertheless. First in her Broadway debut Seven Guitars and then again in King Hedley II and Fences (winning Tonys for the latter two). Off-Broadway, she’s been seen in God’ Heart (1997), Pericles (1998), Everybody’s Ruby (1999), The Vagina Monologues (1999), and Intimate Apparel (2004).
