The Verdict What Did Critics Think of Harold Prince’s Evita Revival in Australia? Tina Arena stars in the 40th anniversary staging that recreates the original, Tony-winning Broadway production.

Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Evita returned to Australia this month featuring pop star Tina Arena as the titular Eva Perón and Tony winner (and Playbill travel alum) Paulo Szot as Juan Perón.

Directed by Harold Prince, who won a Tony for his direction of the original 1979 Broadway production, Evita plays the Sydney Opera House through November 3. The production will then continue on to Melbourne for a run from December 5 through January 6 at the Arts Centre Melbourne.
