Laura Benanti, who won a Tony Award for the revival of Gypsy starring Patti LuPone, recently stepped into the role of Eliza Doolittle in Broadway's My Fair Lady. She took time out of her compressed rehearsal schedule to chat with Playbill about the opportunities the role provides, and what it's like to fulfill a lifelong dream. “Eliza Doolittle has been my dream role for as long as I can remember, so I couldn’t be more excited to join this brilliant company,” Benanti said in a statement. “Working with Bart and getting to be part of this show is a dream come true.”
Directed and choreographed by Justin Peck, the show previously played an Off-Broadway premiere at Park Avenue Armory.

The play by Amy Herzog officially opened April 23 on Broadway.
The new play, now on Broadway via Second Stage, stars Jessica Lange, Jim Parsons, and Celia Keenan-Bolger.
The Max Martin musical features a number of his most beloved songs, including “…Baby One More Time,” “Roar,” “Since U Been Gone,” “It’s My Life,” “I Want It That Way,” “Can’t Stop the Feeling!,” and more.
The mononymic star is currently promoting her newest film Challengers, where she stars opposite Tony nominee Mike Faist.
Winners will be named May 13 with an awards ceremony set for May 23.
On April 28, Clark and the entire company of the Tony-winning musical will take their final bows at Broadway's Booth Theatre.
