Tony nominee Ethan Slater and the cast of the new Broadway musical SpongeBob SquarePants stopped by The View June 5 to perform from their show, which is nominated for 12 Tony Awards this season, including Best Musical.

Slater, who stars as SpongeBob, led the cast in a performance of “(Just A) Simple Sponge,” which was written by Panic! At the Disco. The SpongeBob score features songs by some of the biggest names in pop music including Sara Bareilles, John Legend, David Bowie and Brian Eno, Steven Tyler, Plain White T’s, Cyndi Lauper, and more.

Directed by Tina Landau with a book by Kyle Jarrow and choreography by Christopher Gattelli, the show officially opened December 5, 2017.

In addition to Slater for Best Performance by a Lead Actor in a Musical, Best Score, and Best Musical, the show also earned nods for director Tina Landau, book writer Kyle Jarrow, featured actor Gavin Lee, set and costume designer David Zinn, lighting designer Kevin Adams, sound designers Walter Trarbach and Mike Dobson, choreographer Gattelli, and orchestrator Tom Kitt.
