Watch Megan Hilty Sing ‘Suddenly Seymour’ Before Her Star Turn in Little Shop of Horrors | Playbill

Video Watch Megan Hilty Sing ‘Suddenly Seymour’ Before Her Star Turn in Little Shop of Horrors Though she's set to play the role this fall at the Kennedy Center, here's the story of when she was once cast—and quickly un-cast—as Audrey.

In 2015, stage and screen favorite Megan Hilty joined Seth Rudetsky for OBSESSED Live!, where she told the story of an early career disappointment: being hired and quickly un-hired to play Audrey on the national tour of the 2003 Broadway production of Little Shop of Horrors.

Don't worry, it's not entirely a sob story. When the Skid Row Florists door closed, a window to Oz opened, leading to her long-term stint in Wicked. And she still enjoys Alan Menken and Howard Ashman's score; watch her duet with Rudetsky on the show's love duet, "Suddenly Seymour," in the clip above.

In a true full-circle moment, Hilty will take on the role of Audrey at last in an upcoming production at Washington D.C.'s Kennedy Center, which begins performances October 24. Hilty is set to appear alongside Josh Radnor as Seymor, James Monroe Iglehart as the voice of Audrey II, and Lee Wilkof (Off-Broadway's original Seymour) as Mr. Mushnik.

Mark Brokaw (Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella) will direct the production, which features book and lyrics by Howard Ashman and music by Alan Menken.
