With a book and score by Peabody Award–winning composer Matthew Puckett, Rebel/Genius tells the story of the early life of Albert Einstein. In “What Love Looks Like” and “Faster,” Cott sings the role of Einstein and Elless his first wife, Mileva Marić. As Einstein begins to fall in love with Marić, his ambitions propel him to a place where he battles the overwhelming experience of love and his need for scientific achievement.
A finalist for the 2017 Jonathan Larson Grant, Rebel/Genius has been presented both at New York City’s Atlantic Theater Company and Los Angeles’ IAMA Theater Company. The videos debut in honor of the 94th anniversary of Einstein’s famous Nobel Lecture, which he delivered July 11, 1932.
Rebel/Genius is set for a full production at UCLA in 2019.
