Watch Broadway’s Phantom of the Opera Materialize in Your Coffee Cup | Playbill

Special Features Watch Broadway’s Phantom of the Opera Materialize in Your Coffee Cup This latte artist unmasks a Broadway icon in espresso right before your eyes.

While the Phantom materializes onstage at the Majestic Theatre eight times a week, today he appears in your coffee mug.

Artist Michael Breach has made a craft out of latte art—simple masterpieces that “must be savored before it vanishes forever.” As the creator of Baristart, Breach has been featured on The Today Show with Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb as well as the Rachael Ray Show. He began working late nights as a barista at a Manhattan hotel and used his downtime and the materials at hand—pantry ingredients—as an outlet for his creative energy. Now, he lends his talents to Broadway’s longest-running show, The Phantom of the Opera.

Using only espresso and steamed milk (and a dash of food coloring), Breach produced the drinkable art in a single take (though he chose to film it a second time just to perfect it).
