Though Billy Porter has taken a break from the stage to star on FX series Pose, he returned to his musical roots when he dropped a recording of his original tune “Love the Pain Away” January 7.

The video, filmed by Baxter Stapleton and mixed by Bryson Camper, features Porter as well as vocalists Lencia Kebede, India Carney, and Eric Lyn.

Porter recently received his first Golden Globe nomination for his performance as Pray Tell on Pose. He also appeared in American Horror Story: Apocalypse as Behold Chablis.
