Off-Broadway News Watch Ben Whishaw and Renée Fleming in Rehearsal for Norma Jeane Baker of Troy The new hybrid theatrical piece from poet Anne Carson will begin performances at The Shed April 6.

Ben Whishaw and Renée Fleming are stretching their wings in new spoken and sung performance piece Norma Jeane Baker of Troy.

Based on the stories of two famously beautiful women—Helen of Troy and Marilyn Monroe (born Norma Jeane)—the new show will run at The Shed April 6–May 19. Written by Anne Carson, with music by Paul Clarke and directed by Katie Mitchell, the show's cast and crew offer a sneak peek at the uncategorizable, provocative new work in the video above.

"Anne's work is like nobody else's I've come across," Whishaw says. "This process has been one of learning and discovery, so I'm very excited to share it with people."
