After twirling her way to YouTube fame with a performance of the Witch’s rap from Into the Woods (complete with a dramatic quick change), Drag Race contestant Alexis Michelle is revisiting that same musical with a Broadway favorite.

In the video above, the New York-based drag queen pairs up with Jay Armstrong Johnson (On the Town, Quantico) to perform the Stephen Sondheim duet “It Takes Two” in celebration of Pride Month.

Michelle, who can currently be seen on season nine of RuPauls Drag Race on VH1, heads to Feinstein’s/54 Below June 13 for a special Pride-themed return engagement of her cabaret act, It Take a Woman. The 9:30 show will also feature special guest Andrew Keenan-Bolger.

A graduate of the University of Michigan, Michelle consistently brings a Broadway aesthetic to her performances. “I think the ultimate fantasy now would be to be on Broadway in drag,” she says in the season nine premiere of Drag Race. Later on in the season, Michelle won the series’ annual “Snatch Game” challenge with an impersonation of Liza Minnelli.

It Takes a Woman is produced and directed by James Will McBride and features music direction by Brandon James Gwinn. For tickets and more information, visit 54Below.com.
