Watch Andrew Rannells and Gavin Creel Feud Over the Tony | Playbill

Tony Awards Watch Andrew Rannells and Gavin Creel Feud Over the Tony The two actors and long-time friends are both nominated for Best Featured Actor in a Musical.

When the 2017 Tony Award nominees were revealed May 2, fellow actors and long-time friends Gavin Creel and Andrew Rannells found themselves pitted against each other in the same category: Best Featured Actor in a Musical. Creel is nominated for his performance in Hello, Dolly!, and Rannells for his role in Falsettos. Shortly after learning of his nomination, Creel spoke to Playbill and joked that over the next month, the two friends would turn enemies.

“We’re going to kill each other! We’re going to fight! We’re going to be vile to each other!” said the actor, with a laugh. “We’re going to invent the worst feud you’ve ever seen. It’s going to be a blast.”

“We have been friends for a very long time in fact we were neighbors,” Rannells told Playbill at the Tony press junket May 3. “We lived in very sad small apartments next door to each other on 45th Street for quite some time, so as much as I would like to feud with him, he should know better.”

Still, when asked if he had a message for Creel, Rannells spoke straight to camera. Watch the video above for Rannells’ message and Creel’s response! Not since Bette and Joan.
