Video Watch Anastasia’s Christy Altomare Sing “Journey to the Past” With Symphony Orchestra The new Broadway musical will open April 24 at the Broadhurst Theatre.

Anastasia, the new stage musical inspired by the 1997 animated film, will officially open on Broadway April 24 at the Broadhurst Theatre, starring Christy Altomare as Anya.

The expanded stage production, featuring a score by Tony Award winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, and an all-new book by Tony winner Terrence McNally, begins previews March 23.

The show’s producers have just released a new video of Altomare performing the show’s stand-out song “Journey to the Past,” backed by a full orchestra at her alma mater, College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati.

The Broadway production will also feature Derek Klena as Dmitry, John Bolton as Vlad, Caroline O’Connor as Lily, Ramin Karimloo as Gleb, and Mary Beth Peil as Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna.

Joining them are Zach Adkins, Sissy Bell, Lauren Blackman, Kathryn Boswell, Kyle Brown, Kristen Smith Davis, Janet Dickinson, Constantine Germanacos, Wes Hart, Ian Knauer, Ken Krugman, Dustin Layton, Shina Ann Morris, James A. Pierce III, Molly Rushing, Nicole Scimeca, Jennifer Smith, Johnny Stellard, and Allison Walsh.

Tony Award winner Darko Tresnjak (A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder) directs Anastasia, which features choreography by Peggy Hickey.

Lead producers on the musical are Stage Entertainment, Bill Taylor (Sister Act, Rocky), Tom Kirdahy (It’s Only A Play, The Visit), and Hunter Arnold (Kinky Boots, Spring Awakening).
