Original screen and stage Anastasia title players Liz Callaway and Christy Altomare took the stage of Feinstein’s/54 Below June 25 to perform “Journey to the Past” as part of The Broadway Princess Party, the popular concert series created by Tony nominee Laura Osnes that features a rotating lineup of Broadway “princesses.”
Callaway, who provided the singing vocals for the 1997 animated film of Anastasia, was the first to sing the Academy Award-nominated song by Tony Award-winning collaborators Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.
Twenty years later, the torch was passed to Altomare, who created the role in the 2017 Broadway adaptation of Anastasia, which currently plays the Broadhurst Theatre.
