Composer Menken, librettist Chazz Palminteri, and producer Tommy Mottola share their thoughts on the heartfelt song in this exclusive video.

In the video above, A Bronx Tale composer Alan Menken, book writer Chazz Palminteri, and producer Tommy Mottola discuss the song “One of the Great Ones” from the new musical at the Longacre Theatre.

Palminteri says, “To me, it sounds like a song that Tony Bennett, Michael Bublé, and all these people should sing it, and it will be a standard.”

The Broadway company is currently led by Tony Award nominee Cordero as Sonny, Christiani Pitts as Jane, Richard H. Blake as Lorenzo, Bobby Conte Thornton as Calogero, Lucia Giannetta as Rosina, Bradley Gibson as Tyrone, and Will Coombs and Jonah Mussolino, who share the part of Young Calogero.

A Bronx Tale has a book by Academy Award nominee Palminteri, music by Oscar, Grammy, and Tony Award winner Menken, and lyrics by Grammy winner and Oscar and Tony nominee Glenn Slater. It is co-directed by two-time Oscar winner Robert De Niro and four-time Tony winner Jerry Zaks, with choreography by Tony nominee Sergio Trujillo.
