Stage veterans line up for a series of gay-themed monologues, an Oscar-winning Broadway alum returns to the reality competition circuit, and more in the latest roundup of news from the small screen.

Alan Cumming and More Join Queers
Tony winner Alan Cumming and fellow Broadway alums Ben Whishaw and Russell Tovey will headline a series of standalone monologues titled Queers. The eight-part project, produced in association with London’s Old Vic, is expected to air in July—around the 50-year-anniversary of the Sexual Offences Act, which partially decriminalized private homosexual acts between two men in the U.K.. Each of the 15-minute monologues explore the experiences of the British gay community. The lineup also includes Rebecca Front, Gemma Whelan, Kadiff Kirwan, Ian Gelder, and Fionn Whitehead.

Jennifer Hudson Heads to The Voice
Jennifer Hudson, who rose to fame on American Idol, will join the judges’ panel of another TV vocal competition this fall. The Dreamgirls Oscar winner has been tapped for the upcoming season of NBC’s The Voice, stepping in for Alicia Keys and joining Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and Miley Cyrus. Hudson originated the role of Shug Avery in the Tony-winning revival of The Color Purple and is no stranger to bringing her musical talents to NBC, having starred in last year’s Hairspray Live! and having a guest stint on the musical drama Smash.

Melissa McCarthy Feels Pretty and Witty and Bright
Melissa McCarthy will return to Saturday Night Live May 13. To tease her fifth stint as host, the NBC series released the following video of the Bridesmaids favorite returning to the studio, set to a familiar tune from West Side Story. Take a look below as the Oscar nominee gets into her Sean Spicer finest while twirling her way through “I Feel Pretty.”

André Holland's Hulu Series
André Holland, who recently appeared on Broadway in August Wilson’s Jitney, has been tapped to star in Hulu’s upcoming series Castle Rock, according to Variety. The psychological horror series, set in the fictional Maine town that’s served as the setting for several Stephen King stories, has received a ten-episode premiere season order. Holland, who also recently starred in the Oscar-winning Moonlight, will play Henry, a death row attorney with a complex history with the town.
