Producer Scott Rudin has announced that the Steppenwolf Theatre Company production of Tracy LettsThe Minutes will transfer to Broadway in early 2018, under the direction of Anna D. Shapiro.

Previews will begin February 6, 2018, with an opening night set for March 8 at a Broadway theatre to be announced.

Shapiro earned a Tony Award for her direction of Letts’ Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning family drama August: Osage County.

Prior to Broadway, The Minutes will play a world-premiere Chicago engagement at Steppenwolf, where Shapiro serves as artistic director, November 9–December 31.

Casting has not been announced.

Here’s how the play is billed: “A town’s proud history, the legend of a local hero, the coveted privilege of reserved parking: nothing is sacred during the town council meeting at the heart of Tracy Letts’ new play. This razor-sharp comedy turns from hilarious to chilling as petty policy matters give way to the truth roiling just beneath the surface of the town’s historical mythology.”

The design team includes Tony Award winner David Zinn (scenic design), Tony Award winner Ann Roth (costume design), and five-time Tony Award winner Brian MacDevitt (lighting design).
