Off-Broadway News Top 30 Playwrights Announced for Samuel French Short Play Festival Tickets are now on sale for the August festival that will present the work of emerging playwrights.

Samuel French has selected the 30 playwrights and musical theatre writers whose work will be showcased as part of its Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival, which will run August 21–25 at the Vineyard Theatre.

The selected works are: Aquamarine by Bixby Elliot; Bad Chinese by Ruth Tang; Baked Goods with book by Charlie Cohen, lyrics by Christyn Budzyna, music by Helen Park, orchestrations by Collin Martin; Ballgirl by Gracie Gardner; Better by Vince Gatton; Blue Skies by Rae Binstock; Buried by Audrey Webb; Choosing Love by Chisa Hutchinson; Click! (A Travel Motif) by Jared Eberlein; Heavy by Sofy A Levitsky-Weitz; It’s Not A Black Thing by Tesa Borbridge; Just Desserts by David Macgregor; Koi Story by Timothy Huang; La Negrophilie: A Story Based On The Life Of Josephine Baker by Zakiya Iman Markland; Lacrimosa by Christopher Marshall; Paper Wedding Ring by Matthew Andrade; Plover by Ryan Fogarty; Postscript by Janet Thielke; Precipice by Alex Dremann; Rabiosa by Nelson Diaz-Marcano; Re: Oblivion by Seamus Sullivan; Sex Friends by Serena Berman; So Beautiful by Barbara Lhota; Someone Gets Shot by Jake Martin Stall; Ed by Sharon E. Cooper; The Ferberizing Of Coral by Patrick Flynn; The Forgotten Place by Jeff Locker; The Last First Date by Reed Arnold; The Most Interesting Man In Dave’s Mind by Amanda R. During each weekday performance, a panel of distinguished industry judges will choose one to four plays to move on to the finals. These finalists will present their plays and musicals on August 25, at which time the Samuel French staff will choose the winning six pieces. These short works will be published and made available for licensing in an anthology that will become the 43rd edition of the Off Off Broadway Festival Plays series.

The winning plays and/or musicals will be published and made available for licensing in an anthology.
