The full original cast of The Humans will reprise their performances when the play makes its U.K. premiere later this year.
Stephen Karam’s 2016 Tony-winning Best Play, directed by Joe Mantello, kicks off Hampstead Theatre’s new slate of incoming productions. Performances will run August 30 through October 13 at the London venue, with opening night set for September 6.
Returning to the play about a family who convenes in a Lower Manhattan apartment for Thanksgiving will be Reed Birney and Jayne Houdyshell, who reprise their Tony-winning performances. The two currently star in the Los Angeles engagement of the show's national tour. Reuniting with them in London will be Cassie Beck, Lauren Klein, Arian Moayed, and Sarah Steele.
The new season also includes the U.K. premiere of Lauren Gunderson’s I and You, directed by Edward Hall. Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams will make her stage debut in the play, which explores the blossoming friendship between a housebound girl battling an illness and a classmate who shows up uninvited. The play will begin October 18 and run through November 24.
Meanwhile, Hampstead Downstairs will present Richard Molloy’s Every Day I Make Greatness Happen (September 13–October 20), Ifeyinwa Frederick’s The Hoes (October 26–December 1), and Dusty Hughes’ Paradise (December 7–January 19, 2019).
