La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club (ETC), the Off Off-Broadway theatre that was the recipient of the 2018 Regional Theatre Tony Award, has unveiled its 57th season programming. The 2018–2019 slate includes over 50 U.S., New York, and world-premiere productions.

Among the shows on offer: the world premiere of a new piece which looks at the history of the National Endowment for the Arts; a month-long puppet series highlighting the work of female puppet artists; a return of Kate Rigg and Lyris Hung (Slanty Eyed Mama) with their multi-disciplinary Zombie Asian Moms, inspired by the legend and lore of Asian mothers; 55 Shades of Grey, a play about the first gay marriage in Kosovo; and a re-imagination of the 1969 walk on the moon performed by a cast of actors from Palestine.

The season will also include a 50th anniversary celebration of Stonewall. The milestone event will be recognized with the U.S. premiere of Salvino Raco's Global Gay, which shines a light on the challenges faced by the LGBTQ community in the face of authoritarian regimes; as well as Dito Van Reigersberg (Martha Graham Cracker), K. Elizabeth Stevens, and John Jarboe's The Bearded Ladies Cabaret In My Dinner With Dito: A How To Be Queer Cabaret, and La MaMa's curated series of queer performances from emerging voices.

The season will launch in September with a ground-breaking for the company’s first-ever capital campaign project: the renovation of La MaMa’s first home, a landmarked building at 74A East 4th Street.

All shows in the upcoming season will be staged at the Ellen Stewart Theatre and The Downstairs, located at 66 E. 4th Street, and at La MaMa Galleria, located at 47 Great Jones Street.
