A one-night-only reading, the program will feature scenes from John Cariani’s plays, including the widely-produced Almost, Maine. Cariani, who currently plays Itzik in The Band’s Visit, is an acclaimed playwright; Almost, Maine has enjoyed nearly 4,000 productions to date and is the most frequently produced work in North American high schools—beating out A Midsummer Night’s Dream, You Can’t Take It With You, and Our Town—and has been presented in over a dozen languages. He is also the author of Last Gas, LOVE/SICK, and new work cul-de-sac.

Best known on the Broadway stage, Cariani originated the role of Nigel Bottom in Something Rotten! and played Motel in the 2004 revival of Fiddler on the Roof, for which he earned a Tony nomination and won the Outer Critics Circle Award. His best-known television credits include Law & Order and Numb3rs.

The Bands Visits Cariani features performances by Lenk and Shalhoub—who won Tony Awards for their Band's Visit performances as Dina and Tewfiq, respectively—as well as Bill Army, Layan Elwazani, Adam Kantor, Pomme Koch, Andrew Polk, Rachel Prather, Ahmad Maksoud, James Rana, Jonathan Raviv, Sharone Sayegh and Kristen Sieh.
