Broadway News Tony Winner John Cullum Joins Broadway’s Waitress October 12 Cullum takes on the role of Joe in the Sara Bareilles musical.

Two-time Tony winner John Cullum begins his stint in the Broadway company of Waitress beginning October 12. He takes over for Larry Marshall as Joe at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre.

The current cast also includes Betsy Wolfe as Jenna, Drew Gehling as Dr. Pomatter, Tony nominees Christopher Fitzgerald and Will Swenson as Ogie and Earl, respectively, Caitlin Houlahan as Dawn, and Maia Nkenge Wilson as Becky.

Beginning November 3, Grammy winner Jason Mraz will step in for Gehling, making his Broadway debut as Dr. Pomatter.

Cullum was initially scheduled to begin performances October 5 before delaying his official start by one week. Marshall continued in the show during the interim.

A Tony winner for Shenandoah and On the Twentieth Century, Cullum returns to Broadway after last appearing in Casa Valentina. He received additional Tony nominations for 110 in the Shade, Urinetown, and On a Clear Day You Can See Forever.
