Theresa Rebeck’s 1992 comedy Spike Heels will be revived Off-Broadway in a limited engagement at The Gene Frankel Theatre this month. Directed by Thomas G. Waites, the play delves into issues of sexual harassment and the control and use of women, and looks at the changing expectations of men in a feminist era.

Performances will begin January 17 ahead of a January 24 opening night for a run scheduled through February 14. Click here for tickets.

Spike Heels will star Kate Billingsley, Ellisa Klie, Judah Tobias, and Will Rosenfelt.

“Relationships between the sexes have never been more confusing or dangerous, especially in the workplace, in light of the Kavanaugh/Ford hearings and allegations of sexual harassment most know to be true,” says director Waites. “This play deals with this crisis between men and women in the workplace. What is consent? What is harassment? Is Harvey Weinstein the only man in the workplace lacking perspicuity?”

In Spike Heels, Pygmalion goes awry, passion is misplaced, and the possibility of a four-sided love triangle is explored.

The production is presented by Rosenfelt Productions and will feature set design by Alex Hang, lighting and sound by Dean Denmon, and costumes by Al Malonga and Charlotte Lily Gaspard.

Rebeck's play Bernhardt/Hamlet wrapped up an acclaimed Broadway engagement last fall. Other Broadway productions include Dead Accounts, Seminar, and Mauritius. Her play Downstairs was recently seen Off-Broadway at the Cherry Lane Theatre.
