Awards The Hamilton Mixtape—and All Its Fellow Nominees—Honored at MTV Video Music Awards Heather Heyer’s mother presented the music video for “Immigrants (We Get the Job Done)” and five others with the Fight Against the System Award.

All six nominees for Best Fight Against the System at the MTV Video Music Awards—including the music video for The Hamilton Mixtape’s “Immigrants (We Get the Job Done)”—shared the win at the August 27 ceremony.

The category was presented by Susan Bro, mother of Heather Heyer, who was killed August 12 when a car drove into a crowd of people protesting a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. Bro has remained vocal in the wake of her daughter’s death, and has since launched the Heather Heyer Foundation to establish a scholarship program.

“Through their diversity, these six videos show there are many ways to take action, and many battlegrounds in the fight for social good,” said Bro at The Forum stage in Los Angeles. “I congratulate all these artists on their VMA tonight, and I look forward to the important work that they—and all of you—will do together to make the world a better, kinder place.”

The first music video from The Hamilton Mixtape, featuring K’naan, Residente, Riz MC, and Snow That Product, showcases an impassioned look at the experience and plight of immigrants in the United States. Joining it in the category were “Black SpiderMan” by Logic (featuring Damian Lemar Hudson), “Light” by Big Sean, “Scars to Your Beautiful” by Alessia Cara, “Stand Up/Stand N Rock #NoDAPL” by Taboo with Shailene Woodley, and John Legend’s “Surefire.”
