Rachel Chavkin, who earned a Tony nomination earlier this year for directing Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, will make her screen directorial debut with the short film Remind Me.
The film, loosely inspired by Ibsen’s A Doll’s House, centers around a woman named Nora who attempts to balance a connection with her young children and her dissolving marriage. It is expected to hit the festival circuit in summer 2018.
Megan Ketch and Alan Petharick wrote the short and also produce alongside Graham Patrick Martin and Jeremy O’Keefe of Shell Rd. and Suza Horvat.
The cast will feature Ketch as Nora, Sanjit De Silva (Dry Powder at the Public Theater) as her husband Jay, Callan Farris and Isla Farris as their children, and Amy Hill as their therapist.In addition to The Great Comet, which marked Chavkin’s Broadway debut, the director also helmed the folk musical Hadestown (currently playing a pre-Broadway engagement in Edmonton, Canada), Small Mouth Sounds, and Preludes. She will also direct New York Theatre Workshop’s Light Shining in Buckinghamshire next year.
