Off Off-Broadway theatre The Flea will present the world premiere of Taylor Mac's The Fre next year. The company's 2019–2020 season also features a festival of plays by Mac Wellman, including two world premieres, that will run in repertory this fall.

Following the Tony-nominated Gary, which was inspired by Shakespeare's Titus Andronicus, Mac's newest work is loosely based on Aristophanes' The Frogs. Similarly to Gary, the play will also speak to today's political divisions. Performances will run March 9–April 13, 2020, in The Flea's Sam Theater.
