The Boys in the Band’s Zachary Quinto Recounts Surprise Audience Interactions During Performances | Playbill

Video The Boys in the Band’s Zachary Quinto Recounts Surprise Audience Interactions During Performances The Broadway star recounts moments when audience members just couldn’t keep quiet.

Zachary Quinto, currently starring in The Boys in the Band on Broadway, visited The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to talk about the show, which closes August 11, and his new television series In Search Of.

Turns out, Quinto has had more audience interaction than he’s used to.

“It’s a very funny play so people have yelled things,” said Quinto. “It's not a great habit to get into.”

Quinto said that audience members are more comfortably vocal with their onions about the onstage drama. “This other moment when I say something to Jim’s character, where my line is ‘He's never loved anyone,’” Quinto recounted, “and someone in the audience goes, ‘Except himself!’ We're doing the play! We can hear you!

“You gotta learn to roll with things like that,” Quinto laughed, “and I think it's a testament to these incredible audiences who get swept up in the action.”

Quinto made his Broadway debut at the Booth Theatre in 2013 with The Glass Menagerie and played Louis in the Off-Broadway run of Angels in America at the Signature Center in 2010.
