Touring classical theatre company The Acting Company has announced its 2017–2018 season, which will include a full season in New York City. The lineup includes a return of Marcus Gardley’s play X: Or, Betty Shabazz v. The Nation, which played an acclaimed Off-Broadway run earlier this year.
Kicking off the season will be a staging of Shakespeare’s Love’s Labour’s Lost, directed by Artistic Director Ian Belknap and co-produced with the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival. Following a run on the Festival stage August 14–29, the show will tour the Hudson Valley August 12–September 2, and will play in a number New York City schools September 18–29.
The season will continue with a return run of X. The play, which the Acting Company staged at the New Victory Theater this spring, will play the Theatre at St. Clement’s January 13–February 25, 2018.
Wrapping up the season will be a co-production of Twelfth Night with Delaware’s Resident Ensemble Players at the Polonsky Shakespeare Center. Six-time Tony nominee Maria Aitken will helm the staging featuring a mix of Acting Company actors and REP ensemble members. Performances will run May 10–27, 2018.
