A new production of Engelbert Humperdinck’s opera Hansel and Gretel, directed by Antony McDonald, opened at London’s Royal Opera House December 11. Performances continue through December 29.

Hanna Hipp and Jennifer Davis star as Hansel and Gretel, respectively, with Gerhard Siegel as the Witch, Michaela Schuster as Gertrud, James Rutherford as Peter, Christina Gansch as the Dew Fairy, and Haegee Lee as the Sandman. Sebastian Weigle conducts.

The holiday staging is a co-production with San Francisco Opera.
