Matthew Bourne’s production of The Red Shoes began performances at New York City Center October 26 after sold-out runs in the U.K. The ballet, Bourne’s first new production in four years, stars Ashley Shaw and Sara Mearns in the lead role.

Production notes describe show as a “tale of obsession, possession, and one girl’s dream to be the greatest dancer in the world. Victoria Page lives to dance, but her ambitions become a battleground between the two men who inspire her passion.”
