In celebration of the recent extension of Broadway’s Indecent, which will now play through August 6 due to ticket demand, Playbill is sharing another excerpt from the production. Watch Katrina Lenk and Adina Verson in a scene from the Tony-winning show in the video above.
Watch another highlight from Paula Vogel’s Indecent below:
Indecent was nominated for three Tony Awards, taking home two: Best Direction (Rebecca Taichman) and Best Lighting Design (Christopher Akerlind). The play also received a Best Play nomination.
Inspired by the controversy surrounding the 1923 Broadway production of Sholem Asch's God of Vengeance, which depicts a love story between two women and a man questioning his Jewish faith, Indecent charts the history of the work from conception to the indecency trial it provoked, to its hushed stagings as World War II loomed.
In the week following its initial closing announcement, the drama, which plays the Cort Theatre, saw an increase of $100,394 from the previous week, taking in $377,789.
