20th Century Fox will conduct an open dance call September 11 to find ensemblists to play Sharks and Jets in the upcoming movie musical West Side Story.

Directed by Steven Spielberg and adapted by Tony Kushner, the project is a remake of the 1961 film based on the 1957 Broadway musical with a book by Arthur Laurents, music by Leonard Bernstein, and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Jerome Robbins directed and choreographed both the original stage and screen versions.

The announcement comes from the office of casting director Cindy Tolan. Auditions will take place at Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet in Brooklyn, with the sign-in for men beginning at 9AM and the sign-in for women beginning at 1PM.

The call stipulates auditionees should be between 15 and 25 years old with a strong dance background and ability to sing, and also specifies: “the Sharks are Latinx, the Jets are Caucasian.”

The film previously announced an open call for principal roles in April. Tolan’s office will also be accepting video submissions.
