Spring Awakening and Pitch Perfect alum Skylar Astin has joined the cast of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend for the fourth and final season of the CW’s original musical comedy series, according to TVLine.

Astin will play a love interest for creator and star Rachel Bloom’s Rebecca Bunch—with an interesting twist. Astin will assume the role of a re-imagined version of Greg—a character originated by Tony nominee Santino Fontana. Co-creator Aline Brosh McKenna says that the new take on Greg is included as a plot point in the show.

The show first premiered in 2015 and centers on Rebecca, an unhappy New York attorney who picks up and moves to West Covina, California—the town where her ex-boyfriend Josh Chan lives. In that first season, Greg was an alternative potential love interest for the hung-up Rebecca. The final season of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend will premiere October 12.

Astin recently appeared on the New York stage in What We're Up Against Off-Broadway, as well as God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater at City Center. He played Georg in the original cast of Spring Awakening. Recently, Astin has been more familiar to television audiences in Ground Floor, Graves, and Halt and Catch Fire, as well as to movie audiences in the three Pitch Perfect films as a cappella singer Jesse Swanson.
