Roundabout Theatre Company’s transfer of its Off-Broadway hit, Joshua Harmon’s Significant Other, plays its final performance on Broadway April 23 at 7 PM at The Booth Theatre.

Critics praised the 2015 Off-Broadway premiere of the timely new American play about a tight-knit group of New York millennials that played an extended, sold-out run at Roundabout Theatre Company’s Laura Pels Theatre.

Playwright Harmon (Bad Jews) and director Trip Cullman made their Broadway debuts with the production that officially opened March 2 following previews that began February 14. Significant Other played a total of 79 Broadway performances.

Significant Other struggled to find an audience on Broadway despite earning largely positive reviews from critics when it transferred. Read reviews for the Broadway production here.

Gideon Glick stars in the central role of Jordan Berman, a gay single 20-something New Yorker whose bond with his once-inseparable group of friends begins to fracture as the women in his life get married.

Sas Goldberg, Rebecca Naomi Jones, and Lindsay Mendez play Jordan’s trio of friends in a cast that also features Oscar and Tony nominee Barbara Barrie, John Behlmann, and Luke Smith.

The Broadway transfer was produced by Jeffrey Richards, Roundabout Theatre Company, Rebecca Gold, Ronald Frankel, Spencer Ross, Ira Pittelman & Tom Hulce, Patty Baker, CandyWendyJamiePaula Productions, Gabrielle Palitz, Terry Schnuck, Mark S. Golub & David S. Golub, Caiola Productions, Adam S. Gordon, In Fine Company, Cody Lassen, Aaron Priest, Darren P. DeVerna & Jeremiah J. Harris, Will Trice, and The Shubert Organization.

“Meet Jordan Berman. He’s single. And he has a date with a co-worker to see a documentary about the Franco-Prussian war,” according to production notes. “At least, he thinks it’s a date. Significant Other follows Jordan and his three closest friends as they navigate love, friendship and New York in the twenty-something years.”

Significant Other was Roundabout’s second new play to transfer to Broadway, following the success of Stephen Karam’s Tony Award-winning The Humans last season.
